چکیده
By NATHAN GRossowlcz, Fu amnn MANDELBAUM-SHAVIT, Rosy DAVIDOFF AND J. ARONOVITCH F OLIC ACID (F.A. ) deficiency in man may be due to a variety of factors. The most important ones are considered to be unusually poor diets, faulty absorption of the vitamin from the intestinal tract, derangement in the intestinal flora resulting in low synthesis of the vitamin and faulty metabolism of the vitamin in the body. Human blood contains several members of the F.A. family of compounds.”2 Therefore, in order to obtain valid information about the F.A. activity in human blood or serum it seems desirable to measure as many forms of the vitamin as possible. Such approach may facilitate detection of the biochemical lesions responsible for, or connected with, the deficiency. In the present paper, various methods36 modified or developed in our laboratory to achieve this end are described. Most of them have been in use in our laboratory for several years.

Determination of epinephrine in the presence of uric acid and folic acid using nanostructure-based electrochemical sensor
Fabrication and electrochemical characterization of a sensor for the determination of epinephrine (EP), uric acid (UA) and folic acid (FA) is described. The sensor was prepared using carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone (DDP) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which makes the modified electrode highly sensitive for the electrochemical detect...
متن کاملFolate derivatives in the liver of riboflavin--deficient rats.
In a preceding paper of ours,1 it was reported that a marked decrease of N5,10methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase as well as a considerable decrease of N5 methyltetrahydrofolate transferase activity in the liver was found in riboflavin deficient rats. In the present study, chromatographic analysis followed by microbiologic assay of folate derivatives in the liver was made on rats with or withou...
متن کاملThalassemia Intermedia; Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 Supplementation. What We Know and What is Needed?
This study presented a mini review on folic acid deficiency and recommendations for its supplementation in thalassemia intermedia (TI). TI is a clinical condition which lies between thalassemia major and thalassemia minor. Although TI patients may not need regular blood transfusion, precise diagnosis and management are critical for the prevention of clinical complications and quality of life im...
متن کاملارائه روش معتبرسازی اندازهگیری اسیدفولیک در آرد و نان غنیشده به روش کروماتوگرافی مایع با کارایی بالا (HPLC) با بهکارگیری دتکتور فلورسانس
Background & Aims: Folic acid is one of the important hematopoietic agents necessary for proper regeneration of the blood forming elements and their functioning. Since humans cannot synthesize folates, they must be obtained from dietary sources. The most important dietary sources of folates are fortified foods and cereal products with folate content of 50-200 μg/100 g. In Iran the majority of ...
متن کاملSerum levels of vitamin B12, folic acid, and homocysteine in patients with vitiligo
Background and Aim: Vitiligo is a hypopigmentation disorder of the skin that is associated with depression and an impaired quality of life. There has been conflicting reports on the association between the disease and the serum levels of homocysteine, vitamin B12, and folic acid.In this study, serum levels of homocysteine, vitamin B12, and folic acid were evaluated in patients with vitiligo.Meth...
